How (well) do you deal with cross-cultural teamwork and intercultural project management?

Do you use a cultural framework to get prepared for cross-cultural relationships? In this case do you prefer Hofstede's, Trompenaar's, a mix of both, or other theories ?

Or do you prefer to rely on other factors (experience / feeling / luck / ...) ?
